From Today’s, February 20, 2015, Armada Executive Intelligence Brief…….

We have told the story many times about the average ship captain in the Navy. He/she can wake from a dead sleep knowing that something on the ship is different. A different pitch, speed, or sound can wake that officer from a deep sleep because something is different. One said, “I know very sound this boat makes, and that wasn’t one of them”. That comes from experience.

An experienced executive can look at a series of data and tell when something is off or doesn’t look right – perhaps long before a normal analysis would signal that there was a problem. These types of “intuition” can buy an organization weeks, if not months (sensing a problem before it becomes too  large to handle). With the Baby Boomers leaving at a rate of 10,000 a day, “Brain Drain” could accelerate and we might be reading of the mistakes being made at a corporate level perhaps more frequently.”
